DescriptionHild Regional Library opened in April 1931, as the second regional library in the Chicago Public Library system. An innovation of Chief Librarian Henry Legler, regional libraries were designed to serve patrons directly and provide reference, collection and inter-library loan backup for branch libraries in the area. Hild Regional Library, named for Frederick H. Hild, the second Librarian of the Chicago Public Library, served the North and Northwest sides until the Sulzer Regional Library opened in September 1985. Black and white photo, 8 x 10 in.
