Rosewood Theatre
TitleRosewood Theatre
DescriptionThe Rosewood Theatre was a 950-seat theater located on the south side of Montrose Avenue at Wolcott, directly west of the Ravenswood elevated tracks (now the Brown Line.) In this September 1949 photograph, the street car line had just recently been abandoned, the tracks pulled up, and the street repaired. On July 25, 1948 trolley bus service began as witnessed by the double overhead wire. The theater was open from 1916 to 1953. It housed a retail establishment until it was demolished on October 30, 2006 to expand the newly remodeled Montrose Brown Line station.
