DescriptionOn September 11, 1986, Mayor Harold Washington attended an Open House of the Polish Welfare Association's new Drop-In Center and Emergency Services Program. Earlier that year, on April 30, Washington announced that based upon the advice of his Task Force on the Homeless, the City was granting the PWA $100, 000. This grant was especially significant as it marked the first time that the City had given human services monies to the Polish community.
