Description	On April 1, 1987, Mayor Harold Washington thanked more than 300 representatives of community organizations at a "THANK YOU" reception held for their participation in more than 30 Neighborhood Forums held since 1983. In the fall of 1983, The Mayor initiated the Neighborhood Forum as a means for government to be more responsive to the people. At the Forums, local residents had a chance to meet with the Mayor and his Cabinet, discussing issues that directly affected their neighborhoods.
