BP Bridge, installing the wooden planking, February 13, 2004
BP Bridge, installing the wooden planking, February 13, 2004
TitleBP Bridge, installing the wooden planking, February 13, 2004
DescriptionThe 20-foot wide surface of the BP Bridge is decked with Pau Lope wood, a Brazilian hardwood similar to teak. It is extremely durable and was harvested using sustainable practices. A drawback to using Pau Lope, however, is that it cannot withstand rock salt sprinkled on it during the winter months. Since snow can't be shoveled off the Bridge onto Columbus Drive below, the Bridge is closed in winter.
