BP Bridge, construction of the foundation ramp, August 10, 2003
BP Bridge, construction of the foundation ramp, August 10, 2003
TitleBP Bridge, construction of the foundation ramp, August 10, 2003
DescriptionA view of the partially constructed western approach ramp for the BP Bridge, taken from the headdress of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
As with all Frank Gehry-designed structures, the shape of the BP Bridge is functional as well as aesthetic. The western approach ramp to the Bridge separates the Great Lawn of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion from the busy, six lanes of traffic on Columbus Drive, creating a sound barrier for audiences at the Pavilion.
