| Title | Jay Pritzker Pavilion, stage with glass doors, March 4, 2004 |
| Description | Finishing the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Always with an eye to the quality of the sound, architect Frank Gehry designed the stage to enhance the acoustics for the performers without sacrificing style. Made of Douglas Fir, the irregular angles used on the ceiling and sides of the stage are carefully shaped to direct sound from one part of the stage to the other, enabling performers to hear each other better. This extends to the floor boards too, which were designed to carry vibrations from one part of the stage to another, resulting in a much more cohesive performance by musicians. The openings visible in the ceiling are for lighting fixtures, yet to be installed. |
