DescriptionLooking north at the western-most edge of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion's headdress, showing steel and aluminum panels onto which the final stainless steel plates were attached. Workers used lifts to reach the structural steel as they installed the steel and aluminum panels of the headdress. The headdress is made up of 697 curved aluminum panels, with outer coverings of stainless steel. Each panel ranges in area from between 6 to 300 square feet, is about 14 inches thick, and weighs between 1, 600 and 20, 000 pounds.
