| Title | Jay Pritzker Pavilion, model with BP Bridge, ca. 1999 |
| Description | A side view of Frank Gehry's architectural model for the Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion and the B.P. Pedestrian Bridge. The B.P Bridge was designed after the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and complements it well. Thoroughly in keeping with Gehry's principles, the bridge's aesthetic is functional too. The serpentine, curving shape extends the length of the bridge which allows for a more gradual slope, which in turn allows the bridge to be experienced equally by those in wheelchairs and those who walk. In addition to this, the Bridge creates a sound barrier between the busy Columbus Drive, which it crosses, and the Great Lawn of Jay Pritzker Pavilion, where musical performances are enjoyed. |
