| Title | Crown Fountain, installation of pedestals and granite tiles, March 11, 2004 |
| Description | A worker begins to build the surface of the reflecting pool. The surface is made of tiles of black, African granite that are 3 feet square and weigh around 250 pounds each. They sit almost 2 feet above the floor of the reservoir, but just below the surface of the water. They are held up by screw-jack pedestals and as you can see from the levels being used in the photograph, each tile had to be absolutely level. More than that, each tile had to be perfectly aligned with its neighbors on each side to achieve the glass-like reflection Jaume Plensa designed. |
