| Title | Cloud Gate, polishing, May 19, 2005 |
| Description | A worker grinds the surface of the sculpture using a 15 pound air-driven belt sander (sometimes referred to as a road grader). Workers wore respirators and polyethylene jumpsuits for protection while polishing the sculpture. The weatherproof tent that covered the sculpture from March to June 2004 was rebuilt in January of 2005 to protect the public from nickel chromium and hexavalent chromium particles produced during the grinding process. Although Cloud Gate was scheduled to be completed in July 2004, it was not actually finished until March 2006. Cloud Gate was officially dedicated on May 16, 2006. |
