| Title | Cloud Gate, transportation study, cleat, ca. August 21, 2002 |
| Description | Close-up of view of a cleat on the sheet pile dock wall at the Queen's Landing at Monroe Harbor in Chicago. Project engineer Wiss Janney Elstner Associates, Inc. did a structural analysis of the sheet pile dock wall at Monroe Harbor and found the exact ramp length needed to safely unload the sculpture (25 feet). This is one of a series of photographs that follow the intended route the sculpture was to take from the Queen's Landing at Monroe Harbor, north along Lake Shore Drive, west on East Monroe Street, and north through Millennium Park to SBC Plaza. The plan to move the fully assembled sculpture from a barge in Monroe Harbor to Millennium Park was cancelled when it was decided that the sculpture would be trucked to Chicago in pieces, and assembled on site. |
