| Description | Looking northwest toward SBC Plaza, the location selected for Anish Kapoor's sculpture (later named Cloud Gate), in Millennium Park. Chicago Cultural Center (formerly the Chicago Public Library) is visible in the background, along with the Leo Burnett Building, the Unitrin Building, the Smurfit-Stone Building and Millennium Park Plaza. This is one of a series of photographs that follow the intended route the sculpture was to take from the Queen's Landing at Monroe Harbor, north along Lake Shore Drive, west on East Monroe Street, and north through Millennium Park to SBC Plaza. The plan to move the fully assembled sculpture from a barge in Monroe Harbor to Millennium Park was cancelled when it was decided that the sculpture would be trucked to Chicago in pieces, and assembled on site. |
