| Description | Looking northwest at the peristyle on dedication night; a banner with the names of Millennium Park founders is illuminated. The monument is a modified replica of an original by Edward H. Bennett which stood at the same location. The columns of the Chicago Cultural Center, formerly the Chicago Public Library, are visible in the background. The peristyle reflects the neo-classical, beaux arts style of the former Chicago Public Library, and also serves to connect Millennium Park stylistically to the rest of Grant Park. A model of the peristyle is permanently on display on the 8th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center in Chicago. |
