TitleCommittee in charge of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, 1936
DescriptionThe 1936 meeting of the ASNLH was the first held in Chicago since its founding in 1915. Carter G. Woodson and Vivian Harsh are seated next to each other. Woodson is seated at the front row on the far left; Harsh is seated to his immediate right. Also in this photograph are E. Franklin Frazier and A.L. Jackson. This gathering of so many leaders and thinkers of the Black History movement in Chicago made a great impact on Bronzeville, stimulated its residents to collect Black history, and gave impetus to existing local Black history organizations.
